I made this keepsake box for my brother and his wife, as they are expecting their first child. It is made from walnut and cherry, with hand-cut dovetails and brass hardware.

I made this box using a technique that is new to me. The box itself, including the top and bottom, were assembled as one piece. After that, the lid was separated from the body using a table saw.
This technique provides a seamless flow of grain between the two parts.
I hand carved their baby’s initials on the underside of the lid. My intention is for this box to house memories of their whole life, and will be able to be passed down to the next generation.
